The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Mali summoned the French Ambassador to Mali following the friendly and derogatory remarks made by the French President Emmanuel Macron on the institutions of the Republic of Mali.
Minister Abdoulay Diop pointed out the Malian government’s anger and rejection of the French diplomat and raised strong opposition against these regrettable comments that would be detrimental to the development of friendship between the countries. Furthermore, the Minister called on the French authorities to take control, avoiding value judgments and calling for a constructive approach based on mutual respect, especially to focus on the fight against terrorism in Sahel.
The head of Malian diplomacy reaffirmed the government’s presence to form a government with allies who want honest and cohesive relations, respecting the policy of not interfering with the legitimate aspirations of the Malian people.
