Les authorities Sri-Lankaises ont announcée, mercredi, avoir decrété un couvre feu dans tout le country jusqu’à judi matin, suite à la crisis que traverse le country après l’évasion du presidente Gotabaya Rajapaksa, aux premières heures de la matinée.

C’est ce qui ressort d’un discours télévisé du Premier ministre Ranil Wickremesinghe addressed to the people, dans lequel il ordonné à l’armée de “prendre toutes les mesures nécessaires pour rétablier l’ordre”, reported the BBC.

The Prime Minister called on the protestors to invade his office and other local government offices to leave and cooperate with the authorities.

The president Gotabaya Rajapaksa flew to Sri Lanka on board a military plane, après le déclenchement d’une series of massive demonstrations en signe de protest against the economic crisis that traverses the country.

The Air Force has confirmed that Rajapaksa, 73 years old, is headed to the Maldives with his wife and two security officials.

Les médias ont, de leur côté, indicated that he would return to Singapore via the Maldives.

With the departure of Rajapaksa, the dynasty that has governed Sri Lanka for decades has come to an end.

The president left the country after the assault of the presidential palace, in the capital Colombo, by thousands of demonstrators, and the burning of the residence of the Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe, who also accepted his resignation after forming a Gouvernement multipartite.

Les Sri Lankais point the finger at the president Rajapaksa’s administration as the cause of the worst economic crisis that has raged in the country for decades.

Depuis des mois, les Sri Lankais manifest their anger against the incessant daily power cuts and shortages of basic products such as fuel, foodstuffs and medicines.
