Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Sunday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck. A descent triggered by a public prosecutor’s request to withdraw the national flag flying in the seat.
Police arrived at the Transformers headquarters around 6 a.m. this Sunday and announced they were coming to search with a warrant signed by a prosecutor on Oct. 8.
The building was searched and the Sadien flag was flown over the seat, five buckets containing the flags and tear gas canisters used by Les Transformers during their demonstrations. The grenades were fired at the Transformers headquarters on October 2 and were to be monitored by a bailiff.
During the search, activists and journalists cautiously tried to approach the party headquarters, but were stopped by police, who were heavily concentrated in the area. Yaya Dillow, the leader of the Socialist Party Without Borders, who came to support his colleague, was also sacked.
In a statement issued this morning, police said they had acted on a state prosecutor’s order, recalling that the state’s iconic tricolor flag should not be displayed “in a private home”.
